BIOGRAPHY:
Award-winning designer, Deborah Main Designs creates objects of beauty that are modern treasures. Drawing upon her innate sense of color, texture and composition Deborah Main weaves together fashion, history and art to handcraft stunning one-of-a-kind pillows that could only come from Austin, Texas. Deborah’s talent and passion evolved after taking a sewing class in 2000 with local sewing guru Leslie Bonnell. She launched her business in 2004. "Winning Best Home Accessories Designer in 2009 at Austin Fashion Week was the most incredible experience! It gave me the confidence to pursue my vision, creating one-of-a-kind pillows. I love fabric and color and strive to make my designs stylish and different, but at the same time add a touch of beauty and uniqueness to people's lives and homes." Deborah attributes her success to all the support she's received from her family, customers, staff, local artists, designers, editors, entrepreneurs, and networking events like Fashionably Austin, and Launch 787's Austin Fashion Week and Modern Home Tour. Together, they have given her the encouragement and exposure needed to propel her work nationally. “I feel incredibly lucky to live and design in an amazingly creative and supportive community! From the first nod of approval from local fashion columnist Stephen Moser and The Garden Room owner, Patty Hoffpauir, to being a featured line in the Doris Sanders showroom at the Dallas World Trade Center, to only five years later winning an Austin Fashion Week award, is truly humbling. And to be matched to the coolest home décor store, Aviary, whose owners fully embraced my unique style, was such a wonderful experience. Now my designs are in four Austin stores and other retailers across the country. I am so excited about the opportunities that lie ahead!” Deborah Main lives in South Austin with her husband and daughter. She handcrafts one-of-a-kind pillows in her home studio.
