BIOGRAPHY:

Beyond a perfectly trained eye for quality diamonds, Fredrick has been designing jewelry since his high school days when an art teacher recognized his budding talent and encouraged him to take a jewelry class. Fredrick has been designing custom jewelry ever since. As a graduate gemologist with a degree in Gemology from The Gemological Institute of America, GIA, Fredrick has personally graded over thousands of diamonds from labs in New York to Los Angeles including the world famous Taylor-Burton diamond. Fredrick spent time in the un-official capitol of bling, Los Angeles. Dean honed his style and craftsmanship under some of LA’s premier designers before launching his namesake line in 1999. His creations immediately took off selling at trendy premium jewelry stores such as Rafinity in Santa Monica. It was during this time Fredrick’s design caught the eye of celebrity fans such as Celine Dion, Hallie Berry, Marisa Tomei, Paula Abdul, Courtney Thorne-Smith and many more. In 2004 Dean decided to move back to his home state of Texas. Dean landed in Austin and opened his Dean Fredrick studio and showroom in popular East 5th Street location.

Dean approaches each piece one to one. After countless hours sorting through diamonds, drafting designs, the meticulous labor of his signature “micro pave” designs often using old-world techniques such as hand engraving and wire filigree or mill-graining, Dean blends his trained eye and disciplined skill with his modern style to create each of his designs.

When not designing jewelry for his fanatical customers, Dean can be found wakeboarding on Lake Austin in the summertime, snowboarding in the wintertime or riding his fixed gear vintage bike. A true renaissance man, Dean has a passion for all things vintage from collecting dice to unique metal furniture. A punk rocker at heart, Dean truly stands apart in the world of custom diamond jewelry design.
